Event Description
Farayi Malek, one of Idaho’s brightest jazz talents is having her second annual fundraiser to help her return to her sophomore year at New England Conservatory of Music in Boston where she is getting a degree in jazz studies. She will be performing jazz standards, gospel, soulful funk, as well as some original music. Many talented friends will be joining her this year including her mentor and former teacher Justin Nielsen.

Some of Farayi’s awards include, The 2013 Downbeat Award for Jazz Vocalist of the Year from a private school, Maestro Award at the Heritage Festival in Anaheim, Calif., as well as two Outstanding Soloist awards from the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival.
During her year at New England Conservatory, she was able to sing for Elvis Costello, sing in the beautiful Jordan Hall for the 100th Anniversary of Sun Ra, and sing in several recitals for upperclassmen. She studied privately this year with vocalist, Dominique Eade, and pianist/songwriter Bert Seager.
Farayi plans to complete her degree at NEC and pursue graduate school at Manhattan School of Music. Her ultimate goals include becoming a world class singer/songwriter, and teacher. Please come out and support this young Idaho talent! It will be a night to remember!
